I fully intend to call the doctor on Monday, but I'm just trying to figure out what is going on. This is driving me crazy. About a week before Thanksgiving I started with a cold. Just as the cold started going away, I started with a sore throat. The weird thing is, my throat is only sore on one side.

As the days and weeks went on I only seem to be getting worse. My throat is still sore on one side, but it's never sore an entire day. It comes and goes throughout the day, but won't go away. Now, for the last couple of weeks I have had nasal congestion, chest and chest congestion. I'm constantly clearing my throat, but I can't get anything to come up. Over the last couple days, at night specifically, my body has just become physically exhausted. After I eat, I just feel like I need to lay down and go to bed. I'm a night person so it's not like me to get exhausted and tired like this. Can someone help. Does anyone have any idea what might be wrong?

It sounds like you have several things wrong like a low grade fever, a sore throat and maybe the flu. You could have a strep throat that won't let go. Either way your going to need a dose of anti-biotic to get rid of this and that's going to weaken you before it's through, You left it go to long and now, this is the typical problem of what happens when you let something like this go.

The one side of your throat thats sore is because your lymph gland is swollen. You may have strep throat, and if your coughing really hard then you could have croup. It's good that your seeing a docter because if its any type of those then it'll just keep getting worse and it won't go away until you treat it.

It sounds like just one of your tonsils is infected. I used to get this. It comes and goes as your body fights the infection. The drainage causes the other congestions. Check with your physician as most of these types of infections are bacterial and can be treated with antibiotics. If left untreated the infection could spread and become more serious.

You probably have strep throat and you are highly contagious. Try to stay away from people, and get checked out ASAP.
