The average US wedding costs $20,000 but that seems rediculous to me...I know you could have an amazing day and night and spend much less than that.

Weddings can be done on a budget but loosely like the cars get one for the bride and bridesmaids only and use friends cars for other transport then when married you and the bride can go in the car that the bride came in while the bridesmaids can go in friends car. Flowers, just get bride and for the two mums ,if you get married in a church do it either around the time of havest and the church with already be decorated same as Easter. Mean as it sounds don't buy buy gifts for the bridemaids or best man. Hire your suit and that of the bestman.I don't know how much you were thinking of in the first place You need to sit down with your other half, or if and you didn't say that you you may of been the parent, and look into what you have to spend don't take out loans to pay for it as you will be paying out for ever more

Hello, I am not yet married, but plannng too in the future, And the maxium I will spend is £2000 or less if I can, people get too carried away these days, Trying to keep up with the Jones!! Remember that it's you and your partners wedding day, and it should be a party, don't invite familiy memebers you don't contact at least once a month...invite people only who are special in your life, keep it small, You both can make the wedding invitations just something simple, buy the card, or you can buy the card already cut ofr you and just stick something on it, like too jigsaw puzzle pieces, sprayed gold slotted together? Rent a dress you will never wear it again so why buy one, or get a second hand one? their are lots of things yu can do to have a really special day, without the debt..sit down together and make a list of what you both want and then think about how you can come close too this using cost saving methods... I shall be having my reception at home in the cattle shed, We shall white wash the walls, rent tables, hang fairy lights, have candles on all the tables and there shall be spit-roast for dinner which shall be cooking outside,

A case of how long is a piece of string. I personally spent £800 on my wedding. Only had 24 guests and had a civil cermony in a local hotel. I have also attended weddings that cost literally £20k but it wasnt any more special. If you love him, want to spend the rest of your life with him, then marrying him with 2 witnesses off the street would mean the same!
Currently they say around £15k for a wedding in the UK, personally, I would use that money to put a deposit on a house.

Ok, it's really hard for you to NOT have somekind of budget or idea of how much things are. The first step is to call, call, and do more calling. RESEARCH. You have to put pin to paper. For example: I narrowed my reception site (which will be the bulk of the cost) down to 3 places. I listed them on a piece of paper. Under each one, I listed everything that they offered, and what I would have to pay for. One may have included a DJ, one included the cake and napkins, so forth. Once I realized which one gave me the most "stretch" for my dollar that's the one I chose. You may have one that is less per head, but once you look at what that includes, it may not be the best deal for you. I had one place that was $27.00 pp, but didn't include the cake or the DJ. I had another place that was $35.00 pp and included the DJ and cake and the decorations for the reception site... that one was actually cheaper since I didn't have to deal with delivery fees for the cake or a set up fee for the DJ.
I am doing mine for around $6000... that includes the cake, photog, and DJ... And it's going to be beautiful! Good Luck... oh, and start as early as possible.

I'm getting married for around $4,000 and having a wedding with 50 guests. I'd much rather spend our money on paying bills than having a big lavish party.
If you want a huge wedding with all the trimmings, you'll obviously pay more. But, if you'd rather focus on what comes after the wedding - the marriage - I'd so go for something more intimate and save your money for a down payment on a house or whatever you and you fiancee have in mind down the road.

You don't have to spend a fortune to get married. My husband and I got married in July this year and our total expenditure was £4029.
That was everything: my dress, bridesmaids dresses, catering, church costs, reception venue, decorations, drinks, horse and carriage for transport, suits, gifts for best man, pageboy, flower girl and bridesmaids, photographer and photo album plus extra prints of certain pics.
It really is up to you. I'm not saying bargain hunt for everything, but don't spend ridiculous amounts of money for example - on an item of clothing that you are only going to wear once. My dress only cost me £589, which was the most expensive single item!
Make your day memorable, but for the right reasons- that you had the day of your life, not the debt of your life. Good Luck.

It really depends on your location...things are going to be more expensive in large cities as opposed to a country-side wedding. Do some research in the area you are looking into and go from there.
