I am unsure if I completly understand your question. Let me reword your question and answer in the way that I have interpreted it. You want to know of any sources that will help you better understand the gospels as you are reading, example, commentaries. In that case I highly recommond this book:

It is a 800 and something odd page commentary all on the gospels. Very excellent source.

This is one commentary online. I think that it is public domain because you can find it on even the cheapest Bible Software.

I find that having multiple commentaries around is good. That way you can check the commentator against others and form an opinion on the various views. You should also find that other commentators will agree on many things, but word them differently.
