Having been in the dating environment, I made a personal choice to 'bench' myself for awhile. If a person has 'benched' themself do others know what that means? What does it mean to you?

I've been on the 'bench' for a while now. Not going to even consider dating until 2007. I deserve the rest.

To me benched means you have taken a break from dating. You are working on other things in you life and dont want to add the stress of dating_

It means that she's voluntarily removed herself from the dating scene. Good for you for benching yourself at all. So many other people are dating just for the sake of dating, without realizing how pointless it is.

It's a new saying, so not everybody will know it. But basically u have taken yourself off the court, not dating at the present moment, right? It doesn't sound right to me, but how about saying "I am not dating right now." Others will get it.
