No. He was not in the United States he was in Mexico. It probably will never be known who was responsible for his killing do to the fact that most reporters that are killed in Mexico never receive full cooperation when finding the killers.

HA HA HA HA ... I just can't understand how people can be that imbecile. The reporter was killed in Oaxaca, in MEXICO. I assume that you equal "illegal" to "Mexican", since all red.necks are the same.

If he was indeed killed by Mexicans, he was in Mexico, therefore, NO HE WAS NOT KILLED BY ILLEGALS!

Also, I don't know why do you nag so much about. He was a reporter, he was in a conflictive zone, and getting killed is one of the risks you know you are taking when you go to a place like that. Is like naivingly believing that you can go to Iraq war zone and be sure that you will not get killed. DUH!

It looks like he was killed by criminals, whether they were illegal immigrants is hard to say, since it happened in Mexico.

I'm not sure since the criminals don't have the words "I'm an illegal American in Mexico send me back to my country" tattooed on their forehead or their legal documents hanging around their neck.
