please double check the latest reports on the upgrade requirements! Testors report that the Vista actually needs 2GB of RAM to function, plus 20Gb of hard drive for the system.

I would run http://pclinuxos.com on any current hardware, as it runs upto 50X faster than WinXP Pro (in all the benchmark tests!).

As a computer engineer, I can see no possible reason to have that big a system for email and a few games, and some database uses, and would only get Vista if I were to purchase an new computer that was guaranteed to run with Vista.

Still, the bench marks and the field reports from 'experts' flunk Vista!

Even Microsoft run all 45,000 computers for Hotmail, MSN, and MS.com on Linux!

If u truly dont care about fee, bypass for Vista residing house properly price.. If u have Vista residing house common in ideas.. pl keep on with XP. WAIT till eventually Vista receives sturdy. If u you take advantage of ur pc only for internet and e mail, XP Prof gained't make existence any more advantageous suited.. make confident you improve ur XP residing house version to XP Hom eSP2.
