My mother, who was a devout Christian all of her life died from breast cancer. She didn't smoke or drink, only had one man her entire life, had people all over the world praying for her & died a long, painful death. Why? I've heard it was God's will....God called her home & the devil is in charge of the world right now. Can anyone do better than these?

Just accept this terrible loss and move on with your life as your mom would wish.
I'm sorry for your loss.

This is a question up there with all the other clichéd questions like "what is the meaning of life", unfortunately there is no answer or one that will suffice to anyone or everyone. I believe in God but even as a believer I have no true answer to why bad things are happening every single day. It's just life. You need to believe what you want to believe in this world. So much energy and hatred goes into fighting over religious beliefs that it turns out that religion is not to blame for anything, the real problem is mankind and our greed, evils and selfishness. The problem is not the God who we either believe in or not believe in. We the world are the problem.

I cant say I even believe in the Devil. How can that be so when I call my self a Catholic? I dont know, at the end of the day Im human. I think the devil is a name for the evil in the world now. We just have to get on with life the best we can and stop asking questions we will never ever know the answer to until the end of time. If there's something at the end, answers will come, if not then we can all be smug that amongst our peers that there was no God in the end.

Just live.

The devil is NOT in charge of the world. God will sometimes allow us to suffer, and we don't always understand the reasons. I am very sorry for your loss and understand your frustration. I had a friend that died at the young age of 34. He was a devout Christian and left behind a wife and 2 young sons. He died from brain cancer and suffered pain. His Pastor told a wonderful true story at his funeral that helped us all to understand the pain.

I don't know what your mom's story may have been. But I know that God never lets one of His children suffer without a very good reason. The way she died may have made a huge difference in the way others are now living. Be at peace, she is in Heaven now and will NEVER suffer again. She will have peace and joy for ever and ever. No more pain for her. I look forward to meeting her some day.

As hard as death is it is a fact that all will perish but some of us have salvation and eternal life. My mother had a stroke and was crippled and suffered for years. Why? It is not the evil that we do it is the evil that is inherent in this world. This world has pain and suffering and it is the same for God's people as others. The apparent reason is we still reside here in this sinful world and these things happen here.It is the reason to seek God's kingdom as your mother did.We are all sinners and some of us have the atonement provided by God through Jesus who died a painful tragic death in this world that we might not die the eternal death. This world is still a world of sin but the promise that we have is for the world to come.I'm not sure there is a better answer it is the reality of this sinful world but this world is temporary and the world to come where there is no sickness or death is eternal. God Bless.

Well God does has a plan for everyone's life and has a reason for everything that happens. But as for specific reasons, maybe your mother learned something through the struggle of her death. And if your mother was a Christian, that means she is in heaven right now. That is the greatest blessing anyone could have. So maybe instead of looking at your mother's death as a negative thing, feel happy because now she is in a far better place.

No, it was not "God's will." When Adam and Eve sinned they immediately became imperfect; so they could pass on to their offspring only what they themselves were. (They didn't have children until after sinning.) So, like it or not, we are all born imperfect; which means nothing but trouble for us (some of us have more trouble than others, due to various circumstances). See Romans 3: 23; 4: 12. However, fortunately, it does not end there. Romans 6: 7--death cancels sin; and--John 5: 28, 29--we have a resurrection hope. So while her sickness and death were sad affairs, there's better times to look forward to. Hebrews 6: 18--it is imposssible for God to lie.

No, it was not God's will. And God did not "call her home", that is what dumb people say just to attempt to cheer everyone up. But it is not true.
Your mother died because we live in a fallen world that has been corrupted by sin. Everything is corrupted by sin; out blood, out lives, our land, our weather. Sin has fouled up everything about us. Even for "devout Christians", even the air we breathe is corrupted by sin. Your mother did not die because of any sin she may have committed, but because life itself is infected with sin. This is all because of the first sin committed by Eve, she opened the door to sin. The only sure thing we can do is to be ready to die. And if your mother was a devout Christian-then she was ready. People die everyday, some sooner, some later, and others seemingly without cause. None of it makes sense. But, If your mother loved God-then God loved her. She will be waiting in heaven for you-you just be sure you go there.

Your Mothers Death was NOT God's Will. I am sorry for your loss. The simple but unsatisfying answer is that as long as we are in this flesh we will suffer the effects of Adams fall. Sickness and disease is a part of it.

Did He call her Home. Yes, that is He called her out of her suffering into His presents, where she will never suffer again.

Could she of been Healed ? Yes. But not all of us are Healed, and I don't know why. I have seen great Healings, and I have seen others suffer and die. But in a way death is the ultimate Healing, because we are not made for this world, but the next.

The devil is called in Scripture the god of this world. But Christ Jesus is still LORD, and the devil's power is limited. All he can do is create doubt, fear, and confusion. Jesus brings peace.

I pray that you are able to receive His peace even in your loss. God Bless you ! I will be praying for you and your family.

My mother was healthy all her life, then she started having proplems, it turned out to be brain cancer, she lived 11 horrible months. So sad.

This is what the bible is all about. We are born into imperfections of sin, anything can happen to us at any time, at any age. But we would not have anything if God had ended it.
So Jesus will gives us all the life God meant for us to have from the beginning.
There will be no more suffering. John 3:16; All we have to do is trust in Jesus.

I suffer from Luekemia myself, I dont blame God for it and I have already seen good come from it. From the moment we are born, the only thing promised in this life is death. We will all die at some point. And really, there is never a good time to die according to those who love you. And no one is really ever satisfied with how someone dies. Life ends, and its always tragic to loved ones. I had an Aunt who suffered for 2 years with Hep C before she died, and even though we wanted her suffering to end, we would have rathered she lived. My best friend's brother fell from 50 ft scaffolding 2 yrs ago, broke his neck and fractured his skull and died instantly. They take SOME comfort in the idea that he didnt suffer but still, they didnt have time to prepare. It would be great if no Christians ever suffered and at the end of life they were just lifted into heaven with no drama. But, thats never how its been nor will it ever be.

First and foremost, I am very deeply sorry for your loss..If she was the woman you say, I assure you that she is smiling on her very beautiful daughter right now with joy and pride. I wont even begin to tell you that I know anything about the whys and why nots regarding death and dying. I do know that she is free from that MAN MADE cancer now, and is watching over you and is free from any physical ailments and can play and explore the universe and time and served the God she loved so much all her life. Can you imagine the joy on your beautiful mom's face when she met her Lord. It chokes me up just to think of her joy. You said the most important thing right up front, your Mom was a devout Christian ALL her life. She was trying to teach you something. Hope you got it...All my LOVE to you......Kevin
