it's HIS loss, because he lost something (girlfriend) that is very precious and someday he'll realize that he did the wrong thing. When that time comes, he'll feel very stupid and that's why its HIS loss and not yours.

Breaking up is difficult.
I think what your family or friends are trying to say is that you have many gifts and talents that are admirable or good. He failed to see those things that you contribute. This doesn't mean they don't have value. I have recently been dumped, too, and I'm looking at it as an opportunity to grow. I suggest spending time with other family or friends who are supportive. Reflect on what you need for yourself and how your life could improve with this opportunity. This may include deciding what characteristics you are looking for in a boyfriend. I would suggest going over with then the positive qualities that others see in you. Discover by talking to others or thinking about what you might do to learn about yourself so you can grow. Sometimes listening to music, exercise, or having a good cry helps too.
I wouldn't say he necesarily feels "no loss".
I've broken up with people and I've felt a loss once they were gone because I didn't realize what positives they were bringing to the relationship. I'll bet he is feeling a loss now.
Good Luck and God Bless You.

They don't really know what to say, because nobody can get rid of hurt but you. But....the more pity you get, the more likely you'll stay "pathetic". Pick yourself up, and get moving....there's a whole world out there.

Ah -- believe it or not, they're trying to cheer you up.
Saying "It's HIS loss" means that he has lost YOU, and someday will feel sorry for it.
