The emergency vet said the bottom inner eyelid was what was swollen. . He eye was fine Wednesday when I looked at her.
The vet gave us some meds for her.One an ointment and one a pill. She is an outdoor cat, but since we've had (14 yrs )this has never happened before. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem with their cat and what could it be that is making her eye swell? she does have a hx of UTI's but no other problems.
Is it some sort of scratch or infection?
I really didn't dare let it go not knowing what is was.

He really does need to go to a vet but I understand not having the money, its not something that comes easy these days, so what I would suggest is find a small room, put blankets and comfortable pillows down and confine her/him to that room, you don't want the dog running around that will only make things worse, also try buying a baby bottle and putting water in it and getting the dog to drink that way (if the dog drinks to fast there is more chances of him not being able to keep it down) I would say that may the dog is own his period except for the fact that the dog is 14 so i highly doubt it, I would also say try to get some dry food and feed a little bit to her an hour like kind of fource feed her but make you sure you dont hurt her and put to much in her mouth because this could cause choking. Also if you took her to the ER you can choose the amount you are able to spend, they wont do anything with out you agreeing to an amount anyhow but the good thing is that they usually tell you whats wrong first, and you call always just buy the medicine for her and it will most likely only run you from 20-$50 depending on whats wrong. I hope you and your dog stay well and i hope i helped

A lot of things can cause conjunctivitis, but I agree with KatB. It's most likely a scratch. My money is on another cat. At 14 your fur baby should be able to avoid branches pretty well, but another cat could pose a problem. Especially if it's trying to establish some sort of territorial claim because it's new to the area.

Sounds like pink eye which is contagious. When a cat is let outside to roam and be around any critter who knows where he could have got this from?
People get this too by the way....
My Mr. said that pink eye was going around work and the lady who had it went to the doctor and was told it will go away in 7 days regardless if it is treated??
Hope your kitty gets better! He is a old boy....He could have been in a fight, cat scratches can be bad and get infected...

We had cats that were outdoor when growing up...most of the cuts and infections were caused by scratching against a branch or thick brush they walk through..OR she came across a younger cat...who she may have approached..and the younger cat took a swat at her...Our cats do that to each other all the time..but they are both indoor...one will be completely asleep..and the other will pounce on the sleeping one's head!

I have a male Maine Coon that gets this once of twice a year. It is just conjunctivitis, or something on the order of pink eye. It looks bad because of a cats 2nd set of eyelids. Trust your vet, the pills and ointment will work wonders. It always does on my boy.
