I broke up with a girl after almost 7 years. Things change over time and sometimes you just realize that it's not right for either person. For me the test was "Could I get up in front of everyone I know and say that I will love this women for the rest of my life?" I couldn't answer yes, and then it was obvious to me that we'd grown apart. Now that I look back I can say the last 2 years were pretty bad.
I think the better question might be why would a girl date a guy for 10 years? If marriage is something important to the people involved, I'd say 4 years of dating is plenty. I don't think I'd ever date someone again for as long as I did.

The kind that was sick of you!!! You got on her nerves 4 10 whole years and she be damn if it was going to be 11 years. Why didnt you marry her.Sometimes it,s a little harder to leave your husband then your boyfriend. Get over it, move on, and learn from it.Dont ever string somebody along for that long.I garantee you she has found another man and i dont blame her. And if she,s reading this...... you go girl and what took you so long!!!!!!!!!

Maybe the whole time things were just a lie. She might have stayed in the relationship just so she wouldn't have to go and look for someone else. Thinking you found "the one" has so much appel that when you realize you two aren't right for each other, it can be scary.

Well, they can't get married if he never asks, 10 years in an insane amount of time to put in and never get a commitment, he's probably lucky she stayed around that long before leaving!

You answered your question right there. I don't know details or specifics of what is involved in that particular relationship, but I am sure that wanting a ring on her finger might have something to do with the bbreak up. In fact, I am surprised she stuck with him that long. Most women would have wanted the ring long, long before dating 10 years.

No
Marriage is a big commitment.
1O years is like forever but if a girl meets someone else or doesn't feel home with her bf she leaves him.
My friend left her boyfriend at 25 she was 15 when they started going out and she left him because she did not feel his love anymore as it became present but 'absent' at the same time.

The same kind of woman who divorces her husband after 20 or more years !!! I'd say unreliable. If she'd do it to you, she'd do it to someone else. Get in the dating game again.
