They are very similar vehicles. Same engine, similar interior. The Jetta is slightly larger but the GTI is very sporty looking. Which would you get or which one did you choose?

I think another thing that people haven't touched on yet is accessibility. If you get a GTI then you have to fold down the front seats and the person has to crawl into the back. The a GLI is 4 doors, which makes it a lot easier to carry more people. The size of the trunk is about the same size. The GTI will allow you to stack the bags all the way to the roof if you wanted. The Jetta is restricted since its all enclosed. If it was up to me in your situation then I would get the Sedan because of the accessbility. Hope that helps.

I got to drive both. The GTI is like a go-kart on steroids, agile like a cat. The GLI is , dare I say a poor man's German sport sedan. Also agile like a cat. Both have the same lively turbo 4 banger. I have a 330i, but I wouldn't mind having a GLI as an alternative.

I own a BMP 04 GLI. I love it, you cant go wrong with 18" BBS RC's, recaro seats, and a 6 spd MT. it's got looks and go. Don't get a mazda, it's just a ford with a different logo. If yo can affford it go all the way out and get an R32 AWD. If you really want a hatch get an Audi A3 sline, those things are hotttttttt. Slap on some BBS LMS coilovers and a GT30 and you'll have a killer AUDI.

I have a 89 GLI 16V w/ 180,000 miles and still runs strong. My wife drives a 2003 GLI VR6 which has been flawless also. My only fear with the new VW's is that they are to hard to work on yourself. Don't get me Wrong, I did drive a 2006 GLI and nearly bought it. I just couldn't give up the VR6. As for your question the cars are the same. It just depends on whether you want a trunk or not?

Gti higher on insurance, dont ask me why,
down the road, a jetta will sell faster since they have a high safety record, and better value

the golf is a lot better looking and faster top end. but the jetta is cheaper on the car insurance both are very very reliable and being vw they both hold there price very well as well so the answer is not easy ? so it got the gti its better looking for the girls :]....

Depending on yourself,GTI,or R32 if you can afford one. if you're single or no kids, and if you want to add a sound system, cause hatchback are the best for subs, if you have kids stick with the 4 dr. buddy.

if i had to choose it would be a new gti
however i wouldn't get a vw if my life depended on it
get a mazda speed3 or speed6
repair costs on vw too expensive
