I can’t imagine holding such a contradiction: I have faith that God exists and at the same time I have proof that God exists. Doesn’t proof disqualify faith? If I have faith, I don’t need proof. If I have proof, why have faith? Do I need to have faith in the existence of a place called New York? No, I have proof and evidence it exists. But I do need faith to believe that there is a place called Hell, or Paradise.

ALL Christians believe that God exists, and they (should) have faith that God will do every thing in the Bible as He said He would, even though at this time we do not yet see those thing fulfilled.

You cannot prove God's existence scientifically, any more than I can prove scientifically that John Lennon existed. But there is plenty of evidence that there is a God, an intelligent designer for this universe. Your iPod didn't just accidently come together, did it? Of course not! It had an intelligent designer--a human being! But who designed human beings? Does it make sense to believe that the iPod had an intelligent designer, yet the designer of the iPod (a human being) just happened? Doesn't it take at least as much faith to believe that, as it takes to believe that God invented you and me? Everyone puts their faith in something!

Curious, what's your 'proof'? It seems difficult to prove there is a God in any way other than by faith.

Check out 'Mere Christianity' by C.S. Lewis. The guy is a genius and touches on this subject. Best of luck! Its a great question, but don't beat yourself up over it, remember what is really important!

The proof of the existence of God is in every atom of existence. That you can see that is great and therefore you do not need faith to prove God. Others, however, may not be able to see this proof so, consequently, need faith to believe in His existence.

Faith, for you, may be necessary in other aspects of life. For example, during tests and trials, times of difficulties, and the like. Faith would be certitude in the knowledge that all that befalls us is for our benefit, though, from our perspective it may not seem so.

"The essence of faith is fewness of words and abundance of deeds; he whose words exceed his deeds, know verily his death is better than his life." -Baha'u'llah
