This isn't a question, this is a diatribe.

I don't drink alcohol, I drink wine. Because I like it, because it is civilized, because it is good for health, because it goes with food.

I drink. I like it. It has been years since I have been really drunk though. It don't see it as a waste of money since I get something out of it. My mind is ok and my friends drink with me.

Not nearly enough.
Wines and beers complement the right foods very well. And there are the health benefits, as pointed out at least since St. Paul (and perhaps Minneapolis, too.....aaaargh, and that bad joke was not alcohol-induced).
The trick, of course, is not to overdo.

I enjoy the subtleties in red wine not the alcohol, just as I like them in olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The same goes true with tequilas, vodkas and bourbons. i hate most of the other stuff, however each person likes to savor his/her own individual likes/dislikes. I don't think we all use it as a drug.
