"Sour" is what happens to the milk when it has started to spoil, or go bad. "Discontented" cows produce the same milk as happy cows. ;)

If I don't have any buttermilk I just take milk and add enough lime juice until it breaks down and sours. It takes quite a bit. Try that and see if it "sours" up a bit. Editors note: This was a hint received from a contributor as to how to make "sour" buttermilk pancakes.

They usually put chemicals in milk to make it sour on purpose so they can use it to manufacture other things.
My dad use to tell me the brown cows gave chocolate milk.
Growing up in cities like Los Angles, Honolulu, Las Vegas, it came as a bit of surprise when I move out to a farm in Oregon and my landlord milked his jersey cow and got white milk.
I was 27 then, and just laughed. I think I have told my kids…hum…I wonder if I have? LOL!!!

2 sources of sour milk. 1st is leaving it out or letting it get too old. 2nd is if the cow(s) eat milkweed or bitterweed, then their milk will be sour.

arrr, arrr, & what does a discontented cow look like, everytime I see them in fields along the highway they look pretty happy to me. We all know milk sours when left out or outdated.

No, it comes from cows with no dependable health plan and a poor social situation. If I get your vote, I promise to put an end to all cows without the means to crank out proper milk.
