He was a good fighter from Uganda who gave Marvin Haggler a tuff fight. Mugabi entered the ring as a 25-0 prospect ranked # 1 by all three sanctioning bodies (WBC,WBA,IBF), however that wasn't enough as Haggler KO'd him in 11th round, in a brutal, evenly matched fight. Three years later he captured the WBC Light Middleweight Title, although he was never the same fighter after losing to Haggler as he lost his WBC belt in his 1st deffense. Mugabi ended his career with
W 42 (39 ko's) | L 7 | D 1 | Total 50

An outstanding fighter known mostly for his punch. He actually gave Hagler a pretty good fight and very well may have been a champion if not for Hagler.

Yes he could box. He was good but they handled him wrong. They should never have gotten him that fight with Marvin Hagler. He should have stayed in the Junior Middleweight division before moving up.

He was never the same after the fight with Hagler. He had skill, though.
