"I never knew what real frustration was until I became a Christian. To know Christ and to know others who don't is like standing in a desert next to a well of fresh cool water, watching your friends and loved ones crawling along the hot sand. All they have to drink in that hot burning desert is salt water, and with each mouthful they cry out in despair, through swollen lips and tongue "I thirst". You hold out your glass of fresh cool water knowing the satisfaction it brings and all you hear in return is "Don't try and ram that down my throat" or "I don't like the shape of the glass". Jesus said "If any man thirst, let him come to me and drink....the water I shall give shall be in him a well springing up into eternal life."

Well lets see, for starters it's based on Ray's opinion of non-Christians. It's borders on insulting.

Let me put what he says in a slightly different context

To know that you can find your own way to the Divine and to know others who don't is like standing on a mountain looking at the great expanse of the starry sky, watching your blindfolded friends and loved ones stumble blindly after the sound of a belled madman capering towards a cliff.

All they have to do is take off the blindfold and look at where they are going yet they do not all the while saying "I wish I could see".

You call to them let me uncover your eyes knowing the satisfaction it will bring and all you hear in return is "Don't try and stop me I can hear the bell just fine" or "This was good enough for my family, it's good enough for me".

So THAT'S where that was taken from. Mister Banana himself. I should have known. What we need is actor Alan Thicke from "Growing Pains" to come in to the studio, wave an index finger at Kirk Cameron and say "Now, Michael, that's a bad thing you're doing. You're grounded. And no bananas and crockoducks until you've passed biology class!"

Wow, everyone you know who isn't a christian must be miserable.

Most of my friends are pretty happy and well-adjusted. To be honest, the atheist ones seem to be the happiest. And the most miserable, bitter, fearful, angry person I've ever known is a pastor's wife. My sister. <--SHE could use a drink!

That frustration is kind of common, the problem is that when our spiritual eyes are opened it seems like foolishness to those who are currently still blinded by sin...
1 Corinthians 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that
perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power
of God. It is great to keep praying for others, you did not come to Christ on your own, but it is the Work of His Holy Spirit....HE is
still working very hard today! Allelujah!

I think that it is a very appropriate description of a Christian in a sinful world. It is something which there is no way that unbelievers could POSSIBLY understand, however, so I'm not sure what your point is in posting it here... it seems that it would only stir up more controversy.

If Jesus really said that and I hope he didn't, I would question him as to why he would not bring the water to those who are thirsty, not just those who will come to him.

I think it is quite a stupid assumption of Ray to think that "your friends and loved ones crawling along the hot sand".
