My prescription ended thrus 12/7/06 and last night I was throwing up allnight and I've not been able to sleep since. I still have the headache but was going to try some alternitive medicine. So I wondering if they was something maybe over the counter or some remedy to HELP me with these bad feelings like in my legs wich is the worst beside the headache I had purchased a machine $650.00 that sends electrical impulses up and down my back. That why I quit the OC and was going to try this method, but now it is the weekend and the Dr's won't be in till Mon. that why I needed some advice.

Oxycontin is Oxycodone a class II narcotic pain medication. It is also known as an Opioid Analgesic. It does not contain any Aspirin, Tylenol (Acetaminophen) It is for pain that is expected to last for a longer period of time. It is not recommend for post surgical pain, or acute (short term) pain. It last anywhere between 8-12 hours per dose unlike other medications which last for 3-6 hours. IE; Oxycodone IR (Instant Release) Percocet, Percodan

If you have been taking it for awhile it can cause withdrawal syndrome when use is discontinued. The symptoms of opiate/opioid withdrawal can range from mild to severe and can last from a few days to several months.

The common symptoms are; hot and cold sweats, irritability, runny nose, sneezing, watery eyes, yawning, restlessness, insomnia, gooseflesh, nausea, headaches, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal and body pain.
For the most part opiate/opioid withdrawal is not life threatening although in certain situations it can cause seizures and dangerously high blood pressure.

The severity of symptoms depend upon how long the person was on the drug, what drugs they were taking and how much.

It is always best to detox with advice of an experienced physician who can either taper down the dose gradually or switch the person to a detox protocol such as methadone or buprenorphine.
The physician can also offer other non-narcotic medications to help with the insomnia and other withdrawal symptoms.

You're probably having withdrawal because Oxycontin is highly addictive and I've heard of people who actually beg their doctor to keep them on the drug or even fake the symptoms of pain just so they can keep getting the powerful high that the drug apparently delivers.

i believe you are experiencing something called "restless legs syndrome" ( and yes that is the clinical term). I am a doctor, but have obviously not met with you, so the best advice is to consult your doctor and explain your current side effects

Go to another dr and see if there is anyone you can go to to report the dr that put you on OC for just headaches. He needs his liscense revoked. If you get in with another dr they can help you get off of it and help your withdrawl.
