I had mine done for a few years. Personally, I liked it, as did most of my friends. It was a phase, though. I had to keep taking it out for work everyday, and eventually I just didn't put it back in. If you are under 18, I would strongly advise you to wait for a while. You have tons of time to figure out who you are, and what your style is. What you like today may not be what you like in a couple years. Granted, piercings, if taken care of properly, rarely leave highly visible scars, but just think about it long and hard. If you do decide to go through with it, make sure you go to a good, clean, reputable shop and take care of it as if your life depended on it. Heed all the advice your artist gives you. Good luck, and best wishes with whatever you choose.

I HAD my lip pierced (2x), it's nothing but trouble. If you get a hoop, food gets on the hoop and rotates into your lip. If you get a stud, you risk biting the stud and chipping your tooth or hurting your lip. There's a lot of maintenance involved and you have to clean it every night or it will get infected. The more you play with it or take it out, the longer it takes to heal. Also, I got hit in the mouth once and it was the worst pain in my life. Since I've taken them out (over 2 years ago), I still have 2 holes under my lip.

I got mine done when I was 19, and although it didn't really hurt, and seemed to heal rather quickly, I still got tired of it and took it out.

Once when I was eating dinner, it got stuck on my teeth, and I pulled it through my lip backwards.

I waited about a month after that to take it out, just to make sure there was no infection, and even though there wasn't, I still have a scar near my lip.

Also, I am completely paranoid about it rubbing my teeth. I've never even had a cavity, and I didn't want anything hurting my teeth.

But if you really want your lip pierced, go ahead.

I got my lip pierced when I was 15, and then decided I didn't want it 3 years later. I had mine done in the middle (labret), and it ended up making my teeth seperate, so now I have a gap AND a scar from the piercing. I'm not telling you not to do it, but I'm just telling you to think about it before you act upon it.

It definately is a sexy piercing..my boyfriend has it.. But it has a lot of downsides.. It is just a fad..unless you are going for that "this me I'm an outcast' look..((no offence )) and also it won't help with any job seeking you might be doing, especially if it requires you looking professional..the piercing cannot be removed..despite what the pierce shop tells you for atleast two months..and that still isn't fully healed..
Also my boyfriend has one very chipped tooth, some people get more,
and my friend's piercing wedged between two of his teeth.
Think hard about it..Good luck

I'm going to have to say no because if you have one it could get infected and then your lips will swell up causing a severe problem for a while.

If you are thinking about it, make sure you do it somewhere sanitary, and DON'T pierce it yourself...that's just stupid!

Plus if you hook up with a quy and you both have lip rings... how weird would that be?

~Hope I helped~

Think about talking with a needle through your lip. Think about eating with a EARing through your mouth. Think about what it would look like when/if you take it out. Then tell me what you and your mom will do. But, think about this, although it is 100% completely up to you and your mom. Think about all of that.

i personally really want my lip pierced so bad. i think its a great idea if it works for your face type. just remember to keep it clean, cuz if it gets infected it wont be so cool anymore. keep a small bottle of mouthwash with you and wrinse your mouth after you eat.

No. I think it is tacky, and just one more fad that will pass. Even if you take out the hoop or whatever, what if it doesn't heal properly and you end up with a scar on your face?
