I have naturally blonde hair and dyed it brown and I was just wondering what stripping of the hair is and if I should do it to go back to my natural color, will I go back to it or does more "blonde" color have to be added after the stripping. Thank you.

My sister is training to be a hairdresser and lik you I wanted to go back to my natural colour - a dirty fair - I had gone brown also. Stripping is a chemical treatment to take out all the chemical colourants in your hair and will leave your hair as its natural colour - if its been a while since you saw your natural colour you may be shocked!! But this is both a very harsh and expensive treatment - I couldn't get it done - the dyes I have put in my hair over the years (and im only 25!) have made it too weak/brittle and fine so to strip it would ruin it further weaken it and cause it to break. Ive had to simply dye it back to a blonde colour although this takes a while to get the right shade as its quite diff to lift a dark col - it tends to go a reddy col first so you may not get your desired shade first go - its best to consult a colourist first - but don't let them talk you int spending loads - go to your local FE collegue that run hairdressing courses - students often need models and you can usually get loadsa styling/colouring done either free or much cheaper than in a salon. Hope this helpa

while stripping the color of your hair can be useful over time if you do it to many times it makes your hair nappy and rough...but it will take the brown out of your hair..but you will also need to dye your hair a blond color that you want to achieve.i recommend loreal... it leaves your hair the softest and well conditioned ... GOOD LUCK! :]]
