It is gradual. I noticed a change every week. About 8 weeks later, you are moving around as normal-but still with caution. One year later, you don't even realize you had it done. Really the first two weeks is the worst with the large abdominal incision if you have it. I did.

It depends on if you are being cut or having laproscopic surgery. I had a full hysterectomy done by laproscopy and vaginally assisted. I went home the next day and really didn't have any problems with it from then on. Actually, the only time I ever remember having any pain was right after I came out of surgery. Now being cut abdominally is a different story. That can take several weeks to months to recover from.

Hello,
That depends on the person if you go by doctors orders have been told can take a year.
My girlfriend had it done 9 months ago and is still healing but she has not got rest she needs.
so all i can say is rest and give your body time to heal. You will thank yourself. cause body heals fastest when you sleep or at rest.

if you get the full hysterectomy, where they cut open your abdomen, it will take months. my mom had this last spring and she was not recovered from the surgery even by the time they started her chemo, which you will probably also have, and after that you are out of commission for another few months.

i hope all goes well.
