The cold weather could lower you immune system to make you more susceptible but the viruses have to be in the air before you can catch a cold. No viruses in the air no can catch.

Colds aren't caused by cold, but by viruses. Conceivably, you could lower your resistance to viruses if you're not healthy (sleep-deprived, not eating well, etc.), but if you're otherwise healthy, being cold shouldn't make you catch a cold. Being out in cold air can make your sinuses and lungs irritated, but I'd expect you'd be better after a day or so- unlike the 7-10 days duration of a cold.

You answered all your own questions correctly. You did lower your immune system thus breaking down your bodies ability to fight off the many viruses that bring on a cold.

After the solar is going down it gets chilly. probable right down to -20 fahrennheit, that's -28.8 celsius. needless to say if the wind starts up, and that i could element in wind kick back, then it gets even chillier, very, very quickly. final 365 days with wind kick back factored in, we had -sixty 8 fahrenheit, that's -fifty 5.5 celsius....we had that for some week strait. I in simple terms checked....we've a 7mph wind. so as that effectively brings the exterior temperature right down to one million degree fahrenheit, or -17 celsius. Winds are think to %. up this nighttime to approximately 35 mph.....going to be an incredibly chilly nighttime in my neck of the international. ~Garnet Homesteading/Farming over two decades

being in cold weather for a long period of time. your body has to continully fight to stay warm. So that takes all your bodies energy to do so. while your body is doing that using all your energy, it stops fighting and other baterica/virus in your body. It can not to both at the same time. your body decides keeping you warm is more serious than that bug you may have

It seem that you discovered this to be true for you.
Definitely don't expose your body to extreme weather conditions for extended periods of time.
