I'm going for my certification in Social Studies. I will be graduating in May and will be student teaching this upcoming spring semester. I was considering offering volunteer work tutoring children ages 6-18 for the United Way. Any other suggestions?

Move to an area that is growing...Vegas, Naperville (ill), Carolinas, Florida. Male teachers are in demand in growing areas. If you are looking for bigger paychecks, go to the Midwest Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin...teacher unions are strong and the money is better for your time.

Social study instructors are everywhere, yet in case you could coach social study and English, or technology, or Drama, or some thing...you'd be a lot more advantageous marketable.
