It just so happens I'm reading a book right now called How to Raise a Healthy Child In Spite of Your Doctor by Robert Mendelsohn, M.D. He believes that it does help build your immunity IF you don't treat it, other than things like using a humidifier and drinking plenty of liquids. But taking antibiotics (which do nothing for viruses like colds anyway) or even antihistimines and expectorants does damage to your immune system and makes you more succeptible to get sick again. I already had an idea that was so just from my own and my children's experiences, so I think he's right.

It is, yes. Basically it can take a while for the immune system to become responsive to an infection, which is why we feel ill and then get better - there is a lag between getting the infection and the immune system doing something about it. After you have cleared a viral infection, the relevent signal molecules will still be around in your blood, and studies have shown that this can significantly speed up response to a second viral infection.

I think if you took two of the answers and put them together you'd have the right answer. Your body is tired and week after a cold and you won't get that same cold ever again. The problem is colds are constantly changing and there will always be a new one to come along. I don't know if your body is good at learning how to fight new colds from the ones it fought off before.

yes because the cells in your body recognize what the germ or bacteria is like, but the thing is, you can catch soo much different stuff that it probably doesn't matter much.

I doubt it, in a weakened condition your probably more susceptible. You should be careful for a relapse.
