Dear soul, a refreshing question in this horrible Yahoo site of R & S. Jesus can hear you because He lives in your heart, life and spirit by His Spirit. This is a mystery for sure. That is what faith is, believing what you can not see. When you call on Jesus to save you and to live with you. He comes in your life, sometimes you feel great joy or saddness, or you may feel nothing. You trust His word that when you call on Him He will not cast you away. He promises to stay with you forever. When you pray, talk to him silently or actually speak, it doesn't matter, He can hear you because He is God living in you. When you walk daily with Him you begin to know His voice and how He uses others to speak in His behalf to you. Its a wonderful thing.

I think if you truly believe in him (which we all have to believe in something) then even if you don't know for sure that he is listening to you, you know he is. He can hear you because he is Jesus, and if you believe than you just know. I don't want to go on and on. But I wanted to try to answer this question to the best of my abilities. Hope maybe that helped a little.

He can hear you much the same way your mother seemed to be able to have eyes in the back of her head. Thoughts and actions are energy just like all of creation. Every sound, every thought, and everything you do creates a certain viberation. He senses what you are saying to him. because he loves you that much.

simple, with ears. o... you mean everyone at once? That's easy, Imagine his Father... Take a look around you, biological speaking. Is it imposable to believe that someone smart enough to create the world and make it work's Son can hear the prayers and thoughts of every being in the world? It's hard to comprehend, but then again so is eternity to someone who hasn't existed even 200 years...

I like the cartoon versions of this answer. The little angel and devil on your shoulder telling on you to their superiors in Heaven/Hell. And then trying to sway you either way.
As an adult, I guess it's just boring all knowing power that lets GOD know everything. (Being an adult is so boring:( but I'm stuck now.)
Kids would have great answers for this question.

If a man, while on earth and concerned with his own well being, could effect much change by prayer, then how much more could he do while in Heaven.
Further, Jesus is God, so you question omnipotence.

All things were created through Him and are sustained by Him. An awesome power! It takes little perception to know that He has the power to hear us when we speak with Him.

Because He is God. He claimed to be in John 10:30. I and My Father are one.
If The bible says it, you can stake your life on it. I have.

I figure since he's the creator of the universe, he must be able to hear at very long distances.

He knows my prayer, even before it is thought in my mind.
O Lord, you have searched me
and you know me.
You know when I sit and when I rise;
you perceive my thoughts from afar.
(Psalm 139:1,2)
