Hmmm.... Maybe a suprise party. Grab some friends. Then they can all bring, i dont know, 5$, and you can purchase a cake. This doesnt really match Christmas, but i think its a good idea.

A lot of boys that age and older are into video games. you can also give him a gift card to a place that sells CD's or video games.

A gift certificate to any music or video store and he'll be thrilled! I have a lot of nephews, so I know that is what they like best! :)

why not give him the money then he can get what ever he want with it
you may get him a gift & he may not like it
as you dnt know him erey well it might be a good idea to just give him the money
