Well, witchcraft first during the European times when colonies were being created in the United States. Many, accused neighbors, friends, the elderly, etc. of being a witch and/or practicing witchcraft. Although, many were convicted there was no actual proof that witchcraft worked at all. There are books with spells, but I wouldn't count on them working.

There are several different types of witchcraft-you looking for traditional;, Wicca(feminist-dominated religion), or Satanic? There's a huge variety out there, since witchcraft comes in more flavors than ice cream. Since we are dealing with belief, I'd say whatever you're comfortable with will work best for you.

The only answer I can give you is to research, study and learn. The Craft isn't something that can be learned overnight, it takes time and effort.
But I will tell you this; the best spells are the ones you write yourself, the best altar is the one you create to suit your needs, as for oils...try http://azuregreen.com

Spells should rhyme so they are easier to remember and repeat, yet be specific.
The best altar is the one that feels best for you.
Different oils should be used for different situations.

that is all very personal, join a coven or a grove or whatever sect it is you wish to follow, and wait a day and a year, get some books about it.
It's something you have to think about, and learn about before you can just jump in.

there are books that are very helpful with the info you are looking for. They are usually found in the New Age section of any book store. I used to have a lot of them but I don't have them anymore and don't remember the names of them.
