If a speaker has a burnt voice coil, will it still put out some type of sound or will it just stop working?

If the speaker's voice coil is partially burnt, it will still produce sound, although the sound will be very distorted and the quality will be very low. Once the entire coil is burt, then it will no longer produce any sound.
