i need to know because i have a project i have to do about genes and traits and im the mother of a baby and i dont know what to make it out of (it is kinda like an insect)

Like the other poster said, it depends on the type. Playdough will dry up if you leave it out, as will earth clays, but polymer clay (a type of modeling clay) won't. Just go to a craft store and look for little blocks of clay under the Fimo, Sculpey, Premo, or Kato Polyclay label (I like to use Fimo). You can mix colors together if you don't see any you like, and once you've made the project you can fire it in your oven. Some does and some does not. Play Doh gets cracks, but there are some kinds that do not harden and remain squishy. Do some testing on different kinds. There is one you bake and it stays lovely - ummmmm Sculpy.
