I tried right click on desktop, add new shortcut, but I can't seem to find the darned app - what folder would it be stashed away in, and would it be called 'recycle.dll" or something? Thanks for your help in advance

hmm, first two solutions didn't work :( It's not listed under accessories, and the restore on the customize desktop only restores the icon's appearance - not the actual icon to the desktop. Any one else?

It might still be there, but hidden or off the screen. Open Windows Explorer (right-click on Start button, click Explore) and look for it under Desktop. If not there, look for it near the bottom of the folder list.

If you find it, try dragging it to a visible spot on your desktop. At the least, you should get a shortcut to it. If not, there is a problem with your Windows installation. You can try inserting your Windows CD and selecting Repair. Let's hope it doesn't come to that.

Here you go! Way 1 1. Right Click the desktop > Choose "Arrange Icons By" 2. Unselect or uncheck "Show Desktop Icons" I know the one who does'nt need Recycle Bin would also won't like other icons. Way 2 The Registry tweak, remove a key or field value in registry and you can remove all special folders either from the start menu or from the Desktop if they are appearing. Someone must have given you the link. ... here BO! Luck
