Just wondering why people on this site are so concerned about other peoples religious beliefs. The religion section is full of people trying to convince everyone that there's no God.
Why does it matter to anyone what anyone else here believes in? Will your life suddenly improve if you manage to turn someone into an atheist or convert them to your religion? Personally I couldn't care less what anyone believes in or doesn't believe in.

Here's a radical idea - instead of telling me I "didn't have to come here" people could maybe try thinking of something resembling an answer. You should also keep in mind you didn't have to answer this question.
Thanks to everyone who has given a good answer so far.

I never said I didn't care about Religion, I said I don't care what other people believe in or don't believe in.

Some people ask about 20 questions a night trying to convince everyone that there's no God, I'd call that obsessive. I'm not just talking about atheists, I'm talking about religious nuts too.

There is a difference between trying to convince people with your religion and impose your personal beliefs on others and challenging people's thinking with logic.

I find nothing wrong with challenging people's thinking with logic and debating with them. Our purpose should be truth seeking not getting people to convert to our religion!

Concern! Concern for the happiness and well-being of other people is what motivates many people so strongly. The fact that people do care is a wonderful thing!! It is the right of any person to believe what they want. Hostility certainly does not help the cause of the person who is trying to do the convincing. If done right and with the right reasons to back it up, it is merely a demonstration of caring what happens in the lives of others.

I wouldn't say people are obsessed, their just trying to find out why others believe the way they do. It helps to understand why people believe a certain way, to better reply to questions they ask .

If a person doesn't care what others think, or beliefs they are trying to push on others, then people like Hitler will gain power, and force you to believe a certain way, like it or not.

I will not stand by and passively let some wacko religion be forced into my Country or my Children.

To label it "obsession" is to make a judgement call already - and yet you say you "couldn't care less."

People are social creatures. We crave fellowship and part of that fellowship is the kindredness of shared beliefs. In addition, if faith is the most important thing in the world, then it becomes an act of compassion to share your beliefs. On the other hand, people are unsettled by those with differing beliefs, so they try to pursuade them (some more gracefully than others!) to change their beliefs to match theirs.

It makes no sense! I guess some people take the Religion & Spirituality section for granted just as a place to convert people.

Because in a country where people keep trying to pass laws based on their own religious beliefs (stem cell research, abortion, gay marriage, school science curriculums), it leads non-members of that religion to care more than they normally would.

It's just a reaction to the Christians who go about telling everyone to believe in Jesus.
Both types of people are losers with nothing better to do.

I DO have an issue when people's religious beliefs begin conflicting with my life. Example, teaching creationism in schools. They're forcing it on kids and that's wrong.

When THEIR religion/politics urge the domination of the world by bloodshed and chaos we SHOULD be concerned. The govt is starting to get the pic but we are moving a turtle speed compared to the hare. It's going to be too late soon.

And yet you are here like the rest of us. We are created by God to be His children. We are born with a need to be with Him. Obviously this sparks curiosity.

if you have no interest in religion or spirituality why are you here?

there are plenty of other categories

here we discuss the things of God

of course there are plenty of trolls here, probably more than most categories because trolls are unhappy people trying to justify their unhappiness
