sure, this place is great for actual questions like: who climbed the sycamore tree, who was st. Christopher, what was the name of the angel who visited Mohammad, why are atheists so sexy, etc, etc.

But, alot of the members who frequent this area, seem to attempt to engage in a serious discussion, when this areas format is rather counter intuitive for this form of recreation. it's hard to discuss religion with a low character count and a one way question/answer format, after all.

At-least five times now, I've seen someone parade the "every building needs a builder" argument in an answer, only to find that I'm unable to respond due to the character limit, or an unlisted email. Yahoo answers is great for question/answers, but do you think that those of us more interested in actual discussion, should either petition yahoo for a true forum or create our own offshoot forum?

[by "true forum" i am referring to the common forum setup, like burningboards, etc. ex: http://itt-community.com/ ]

Absolutely... There ARE yahoo message boards and forum groups but there needs to be some kind of forum discussion for this group. I cant tell you how many times I've wanted to continue a discussion on a subject and can't. Sometimes I can email a person but more often than not, they do not accept email. It would be very easy for Yahoo to change this format over to a discussion board format, especially since it's much more frequently used than the actual Yahoo message boards.

I've asked questions and wanted to respond to something someone answered with, but if I pose that as the next question, then its "personal conversation" and removed.

Sounds like a plan for you panda. Perhaps that is your true calling..LOL. I think it is fine for what is being discussed. I have had a few times when like you I have responded to emails only to have it not go through as the other person does not have an approved email. If they want to discuss anything furthey they can send me a correct email address.

I only stumbled on this format recently. I am open to another, but I have little time with work and family so Q&A is fine by me.

But, I agree with you. If you take this seriously you should not hide your email or have a way for others to contact you. I believe mine is set up so that others can contact me if they feel the need and have told others to contact me if they need further input.

I also try to only asnwer questions that seem genuine, but I admit I answer others that are obvious traps.

It's called free speech and it's not stupid, although you may be. Go build your own building.

G-night,

PS I tried your suggested website and it had 13 users .. big deal and good luck.
