I am a progressive liberal and I wanted to help the poor people that lost their homes in New Orleans due to George Bush's Hurricane. I invited several families to come stay with me in New York. My wife and kids weren't happy but I explained we have to do out part to save these nobel people. The families have drained me of all my money, they refuse to get a job, they live in filth, the men harrass my wife and daughters. They have lived with me for 2 and a half month and have cost me almost 100,000 dollars, which is pretty much all my savings. My wife is threatening to leave me and take my daughters away after one of the men tried to sexually assualt them. I don't know what to do. I can't turn these heroes away after what happened to them, but my life has been ruined!!

First of all, it wasn't George Bush'w Hurricane, he just had to deal with what God produced. Second, since your family was against it in the first place, I wonder why you felt compelled to assist these so called hero's. What made them hero's? You should have considered there were plenty of agencies all over r the country who assisted these victims. To name of few of them, The Salvation Army, The Red Cross, there was federal relief offered, maybe not soon enough, but it did come. You would not have had to spend so much of your own nest egg if you had not tried to do the solo act. While taking these people into your own home, you opened your family to financial devastation, and harassment. I suggest you assist whoever is living with find other living arrangements ASAP. There are plenty of shelters and agencies in every community who are trained and have the resources necessary to complete this task. Hug your wife and children and apologize for your poor judgment.

Well if you want my advice. I say better run away a coward than die a hero. Sometimes you have to do the smart thing instead of the right thing. You called these people noble? I don't think they deserve that title. Take them to a shelter. Shelters have money to support people in need. Unless you some how make a million dollars, you can't support them. You'll end up like them if you don't remove them at once. Better live a coward than die a hero. Remember that.

These guys are not heros. You're going to lose everything unless you do turn them away. Is that really what you want. Don't be stupid. I would have kicked them out after they tried to sexually assault your wife and daughter. This is ridiculous! Would you rather be a good samaritan or a good husband and father. Right now you are putting complete strangers (and what sounds like bad people) before your family. I'd leave you too!

Just because they have been through a national disaster that doesn't make them hero's. And hearing how they have just taken your generosity and not given back, I would say they aren't worth losing your family over. I think it is great that you wanted to help. But you are done helping strangers now and you need to focus on your family. You trying ot help them out is endangering the people you love. get your priorities straight and save your family. You can help the victims of this or any other natural disaster in other ways. Organizing a food drive, clothing drive. Go to the region and help build homes. But get those strangers out of your house!

Heroes don't try to rape or assult your family. Heroes don't make a good honest person drain their bank account for their benefit without paying anything back, even if it isn't in money (such as cleaning up the house etc). Remember, yes, it is true that many hundreds of good people lost everything, but thousands of losers and evil people also lost everything. Don't confuse the latter with the good people mentioned earlier.

lol...you have got to be kidding me,first of all it wasn't "bushes hurricane" it just happened, you know what they say **** happens! and if these people will not get a job and try to get back on their feet then they r lazy bums, not "heroes" and if they tried to mess with your daughter sexually and you don't kick them out then your wife should have already left you and you r a no good father for letting them stay even one second after you learned what they did!....kick them out!...and another thing just because something bad happened to these people they r not heroes! bad things happen to good people every day and my heart goes out to them but they r in no way heroes you do what you can to survive in a crisis,it's called being human not being a hero...now the ones who saved others instead of leaving injured people behind and fighting and shooting other people, they r the heroes!

It is wonderful to help people in need. But a man's first duty is to protect and care for his own family. When you put your own family at risk, you are not a hero... but a jackass as others have said.

Get rid of those people immediately! Apologize to your wife and children and try to mend your life.

Best Wishes,

Sue

I get the satire and all that, but really, why would you as a person waste your time online trying to piss people off? Making the world a crappier, angrier place one stupid question at a time??

Wait wait wait, I take it back. Seeing as so many people actually bought it, post away. Dear God.

You are too caught up in yourself....get the hell over yourself deary.

Alright, you kick them out. Call the cops and get the men who attempted to assault your children in jail. Get everyone out, change your locks and rebuild your life.

Your wife is right.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions. You have a good heart but suffer from poor execution. Donations are always better, especially to the Red Cross.

You are noble but stupid. the only thing you put above your family is God. Give them 1 month notice to leave, a one way ticket back from where they came, a immediately call the authorities on the creep!
