my 93 cadillac has Oil in the radiator... Not water in the oil.
i have taken off the top of the motor and to my surprise it doesnt have aluminum heads. It has metal. I guess my question is w/ it being metal heads do i need to have them checked to see if they are wharped? And if not can it just be the gasket? I used a magnet and it stuck to the heads so i know they are not aluminum.

while it would be cheaper to just throw gaskets on it and put it back together.. you can not see a warp or a hair line crack or an internal crack. your best bet is to have it tested and if it checks out ok don't do anything at least you will know... If you just put it back together and it has an internal crack, you gotta start all over.. and you'll have to buy new gaskets all over again.

Take the heads down to a machine shop and have them magnifluxed. This will check for minute cracks that can't be seen with the naked eye. If there are no cracks and the sealing surface are true then you have other problems. Does the truck have an oil cooler that connects to the radiator? The internal part of the cooler might have a small leak and the pressure from the oil pump could be pushing the oil under pressure into the radiator.

First, your heads are fine, don;t waste money checking for warp. The only way heads warp is severe overheating and cast iron heads very rarely warp. I didn't see any symptoms mentioned except oil in radiator. It is highly unlikely that a blown gasket would put oil there. There is no oil in the combustion chamber to do this. I believe you have diagnosed incorrectly. Have you examined the gaskets for a break that would cause leakage ?? Did you have misfire ?? You would with blown gasket. What kind of oil in radiator ?? Is perhaps the color of transmission fluid ?? look closely. There is an oil cooler for tranny fluid in the lower tank of your radiator. That may be your problem. Be careful with head gaskets they usually have a top and bottom sealing surface. Check with auto supply if you are not sure. NEVER replace any pert till you are sure of the problem.Be sure and get a tightening sequence diagram for your head bolts. Let us know the outcome, I am curious if my diagnosis is correct. Thanks

Are you having to place antifreeze in very often? if so you have got a head gasket undesirable. The gasoline isnt burning as helpful because it is going to with that hollow interior the gasket and getting the antifreeze water combination interior the cylinder. I dont understand why the broking couldnt determine it out sounds like they only didnt prefer to clutter with it. in case you have a verify engine mild on that's once you're able to desire to get a code scanner on it. it may furnish some help yet no telling no remember if it somewhat is going to certainly inform you something that has to do with it its vulnerable to furnish you a defective oxygen sensor analyzing code or some thing by using exhaust and smoke adjustments. solid success in looking out desire I even have been of a few sensible suggestion.
