Play games inside wearing a hat .. encourage the child to wear the hat inside, be a role model and wear a hat too .. play dress ups with old hats perhaps .. the child needs to learn to keep the hat on before they will keep it on outside. Positive reinforcement .. plenty of praise ..

Remember, you're the parent! If he/she doesn't want to wear a hat, too bad! If it's cold outside then they need it and sometimes being parent and doing what your child needs comes before giving them everything they want. Maybe let him/her pick out a new hat and then make them wear it every time it's cold out.

I think you should don't let him outside and you might tell him a little lie for example: You would need to go to the doctor cause you might get sick cause you don't wear a hat, but you should put a hat too so he can see that everyone wears hats. It might work
Thanks

Don't let him go outside if he doesn't wear his hat. You're the parent you make the rules. He's the child, he follows the rules or doesn't do what he wants.

Don't let your child outside. Tell him/her that they cant go out unless they wear their hat. 5 is old enough to understand why they need to wear the hat. At my child's school, if children don't have their hat with them they don't go out and play, they sit in the shade for their playtime........I'm sure they don't forget to take it very often.

tell them either they wear the hat or they can't play outside. That simple. They will give in eventually because they want to play outside.

Well it depends on how the weather is. In NY where I am it is freezing COLD. So when one of my kids doesn't want to wear a hat then they can NOT go outside to play. It is that simple. If it is HOT out then Just make shure he/she has pleanty of sun screen on.
