we went around to several shelters today and found a puppy. same age as our son too...3 months old! so they can definately grow up together. he's an orange brindle, english bull dog/stafford/pit mix. (not sure between the pit and staf, not that it makes a difference) he's got the bull dogs body and stubby tail, and the pits face and ears. he looks like hes going to be short and wide, instead of tall. which is what we really wanted. not to mention, the 2 breeds me and my husband REALLY wanted. so a 2 for one special! anyway. i know both of these breeds can be somewhat stubborn and forceful, but i also know theyre both GREAT with children. not to mention i'm a stay at home mom and would be a great security dog. what do you guys think of this mix for me and my son? well, from what i've told you...

I think it is a great mix. go for it. I can guarantee you are going to have people going crazy over the pit bull mix thing but do not listen. They are great dogs if raised right. It is the stupid people who turn them bad. Pit are very loyal and loving. Our Pit LOVES EVERYONE AND THING. He would never hurt a fly. He adores children, they can do anything to him they want. The only time I ever seen him get protective is when someone broke into our house when we were home, and when a friend hurt my Lab. The Lab is the Pit's best buddy and they adore one another. He gets protective over the Lab if anyone tries to hurt him. But we always wondered if this big baby would protect us and when it came down to it he did. Get the puppy you won't regret it.

I say go for it. You will have to train the puppy but you are a stay at home mom. The dog will most likely like your son especially when he gets older. Ive not really heard of them being security dogs as much. But I guess almost any dog will scare someone by barking at them. Yes they are hard to train. But if you have enough time you can do it. Ocassionally I have heard of stories were this type of dog thinks they are playing with the little kid but ends up like bitting the childs ear off. I recomend not leaving him alone with the dog until 2 or 3 years of age. But you can go off to another room for about 1 minute or so. But when he is 3 you can go upstairs and work on a paper. I say go for it. Hope this helps.

OMG you would really have a dog like this around your child ? well just be preparred to take that child to the emergecy room when that pit mix tries to take your kids face off . I have seen this too much and my sister is an er nurse and she sees it alot . and she wonders why these ppl even get a dog like this and then cry when their kid gets injured by the dog . results are the dog gets put down and the kid gets years of plastic surgery please reconsider your choice .

sounds great, its a good age as long as you are not busy trying to house train the puppy as well as care for your son. no certain breed has bad temperments either...its the owners that give dogs the bad qualities. have fun with the dog, sounds like a good idea!

I'm not a bully breed person (I have Australian Shepherds) but I know many people that have them and I have yet to meet a mean one!

Get it some great training and have a blast!
