The true story of Santa Claus begins with Nicholas, who was born during the third century in the village of Patara. At the time the area was Greek and is now on the southern coast of Turkey. His wealthy parents, who raised him to be a devout Christian, died in an epidemic while Nicholas was still young. Obeying Jesus' words to "sell what you own and give the money to the poor," Nicholas used his whole inheritance to assist the needy, the sick, and the suffering. He dedicated his life to serving God and was made Bishop of Myra while still a young man. Bishop Nicholas became known throughout the land for his generosity to the those in need, his love for children, and his concern for sailors and ships.

Nothing. Christians don't celebrate Santa. They celebrate the birth of Jesus into the human world.
The story of Santa Claus originated from St. Nicholas and him secretly giving gifts of coins to 3 maidens whose father didn't have enough money for their weddings. One of the maidens saw Nicholas put coins on their front step. She told her father and soon the town heard of it. The tradition of gift giving began after that. This was done in December. Nicholas had white hair and a white beard. He wore a red robe when attending mass. This later became Santa Claus (Saint Nicholas). A language translation fron Latin to English.
Many Christians do give gifts to their loved ones as a representation of God giving us the gift of His Son.
The way Christmas and Santa and all has become is secular. And very commercialized. I make my own gifts for family and some friends. My son and I bake a cake with "Happy Birthday Jesus" on it and we sing to Jesus. He is 12 now and we still do that.

Santa is one of the reasons why Christ has left Christmas. We should be celebrating Christ's birthday not some reindeer and a man in a red suit. I hope any Christians mothers out there who tell their children that Santa is coming knows they are lieing which is a sin.

Santa Claus was based on the good deeds of Saint Nicholaus.
There is a legend that A good man named Nicholaus passed by a poor family home and threw some gold into the home to help them, and the gold landed in some stockings hanging in front of the fire to dry.
Later Nicklaus was cannonized as a Saint, and because of his good deeds the legend of Saint Klaus was begun. As the story was taken to other cultures and languages; the name transformed to Santa Claus.

Santa Clause is a version of the name Saint Nicholas. Saint Nicholas is a wonderful Saint, who upheld the faith in the Fourth Ecumenical Council. He was a wonderworking Saint who did many miracles. We call him wonderworking because the miracles he did was so amazing, they were wonders. He is my household's patron Saint. He was not fat, but a rather thin Bishop. He is a part of Christianity and has upheld Christianity. He is an example of how Christians should try to be. He is a Holy Father of our faith.
Holy Father Nicholas!

I believe the original St. Nicholas was a man that delivered gifts to some kids whose parents couldn't afford presents. He was and is a good role model for Christianity. He sacrificed things for himself to give to others, which is what we try to do the same, some people just don't see it that way.

Nothing. Santa is not once mentioned in the Bible driving his sleigh. And your point is? That Christians can't have fun. You are more strict than God.

Very good question my man..Santa is nothing but a sugar coating to get people to join the christian faith. Cause santa is like jesus, dosen't exist, but brings you toys under your tree..petty good paradox..if you think about it. Jesus don't exist, someone else does and they act like him. Like your parents act like santa. And drink your milk and your cookie, like the churches take your money lmao i'm kididn!

He is loosely based upon St Nicholas. Although that doesn't explain why toys have taken over the whole holiday.
