Is the father and the son already a fish? So straight away that is 2 fish.
After catching , together they had 6?
Alicat has the correct answer. Reading her answer made me realise that they caught two fish -only together as a rule in the question. So it's possible if you say the following...
A father and son went fishing.......?
THEY CAUGHT 2 FISH EACH (together) they had 246 or 20 or 500 or 100000000000 or any number really. The point is, the question is what did they catch together - and not on their own.
