I think the answer lies in the politics of first century Judea and Rome. That's a huge topic, so let's keep it to two things. 1) Whenever the Christian canon has an opportunity to diss the Jewish leadership, and Jews and Judaism in general, it takes it. Even when it means fabricating large sections like the infamous trial scene, the details of which make it clear that it wasn't the least bit Jewish. For allegedly eye-witness accounts, the canon gets an awful lot of the Jewish details very wrong. All of that makes Paul's 'conversion' rather suspect. As does his pretty thorough ignorance of Judaism. 2) At a time when Rome was furious with continued Jewish insurrection, resistance to assimilation and refusal to worship Roman emperors as gods, a religion comes along which transforms the most potent symbol of Jewish independence into a docile lamb, instructing its followers to render unto Caesar, turn the other cheek and dream of a happy afterlife. How bloody convenient.

Jesus was not only a good guy He was perfect in all ways even the way of judgment through righteousness. Jesus didn't start a cult He started a way for all of us to talk to God the Father directly through acceptance of Jesus as savior of our own personal life. All those who don't believe will be condemned to an everlasting life in Hell. Jesus came to save us and be the ultimate sacrifice so we would not have to go to hell. I'm just sorry for you and those like you who think Jesus is weak, because you are wrong. When we all get to heaven and have to face Jesus it will be people like you who will believe and only then believe but then it will be to late. For Jesus will say depart from me for I never knew you. Then eternity will start condemned for the rest of your life.
You have time while on Earth to change your ways and beliefs before it is too late. Hope you make the right decision and don't spend the rest of your life on Earth in misery and eternity in HELL! I feel so sorry for you and I pray that you will come to the understanding of God's grace and everlasting love.

Let's assume Jesus was the Son Of God, all-knowing and he had already predicted that people would die in his name. No one else in the world healed so many people and even brought people back to life. He is still healing people, bringing them back to life, and doing miracles all over the world. Of course this type of stuff never makes the news, neither does hardly any good news. The Bible accurately predicted what would happen to him thousands of years prior. He is The Son of God my friend and he really did die so you can trust him in this life and spend eternity with him in Heaven where there is no pain, death, suffering, boredom, loneliness or any bad thing. Only fun and unconditional love. I'm sure you have family members there waiting for you and rooting for you to just believe in Jesus so they can see you again, you have everything to gain!

Excellent Question. The answer is - No!

First, assume there was an historic Jesus. And, assume he taught religion/faith and was not just a political revolutionary.
When you look a the tiny bits of the actual teaching of the man Jesus by cross referencing them in the three earlier gospels then compare them with the gnostic gospels, you can plainly see that what he taught is nothing like the religion with his name.

Jesus knew exactly how big the "cult" would become. Not sure if knew that some "wicked" and "greedy" ones would infiltrate it and use it for their own goals, but probably he did know since those sort of things were already going on with Jewish folk. While there are those that have used this for their own worldly desires, millions more have used to live their lives filled with faith, joy and the service of their fellow man...A: How many trillions would have died if he didn't start this cult B) How many millions have lived because of some christian organization feeding them, doctoring them, teaching them to farm, drill for water, etc etc etc etc....Our cult hasn't killed anyone-----some evildoers did in our name. We give of ourselves, we ask nothing in return. That's the meaning of our "cult". It's all about LOVE....and BIG LOVE to you!

Jesus Christ is the son of God, He is equal in all respects to God the Father, He did not start a cult He started a relationship between God and man. People have died defending this faith. Some, have used the name of Christ for their own gain, they were wrong and will be judged.

all religions are at some time regarded as a cult. Even groups of non-believers or non-theists could be considered a cult.
I think that Jesus put the idea of a good life and a relationship with God out into the world and it created ripples of change like when you throw a rock into a pond...but it was people with malice and hate in their hearts that have changed that idea. Zealot's of any faith or idea are the problem with that faith or idea...

Everything that HAS happened HE knew would happen.

Any killing was done because of the free will of the leaders that tricked their followers. GOD is/was NOT killing, but watching HUMANS kill others.

If people STOPPED FOLLOWING the leaders that order stupid activities and/or killings and removed them from leadership - guess what there would be peace! We would talk and logicly reach agreements, instead of wars.
Watch the next leader of a religion say kill, and see why is he/she still in leadership. The followers are scared of him/her - not because the leader is loving, as Jesus was/is. They are all power hungery humans - non devine! Can't you see this?

Jesus knew exactly what he was doing. In John 14:7 he clearly claims to be the only way for us to get to God!

Now you have to answer for yourself the question: Was Jesus a complete lunatic on the level of someone who claims to be a poached egg, was he a pathological liar, or was he exactly who he claimed to be?

While you are pondering on that, ask yourself, could a horrible liar or a complete loon have brought so much good into the world??
