It depends. My cat lived until it was 19 (human years.) But, not all cats live this long. In order for your cat to have a long life it should be properly fed, be played with on a regular basis, and it should be brushed at least once a day. Most cats live about 11 years but if you do all of the above they can live much longer. I hope this helps!

It depends. I had 2 cats that both lived up to 20. I think the world record for a cat is 32 years. But that is rare.

Average is about 13-17 years. The oldest known living cat is 32 years.

The average lifespan of the domestic cat is about 15 years. The record stands for a tabby called "Puss" who attained 36 years and one day, although there is an unsubstantitiated claim that a cat lived to the age of 43!

It really depends on the cat. Ten is old for a cat, and it's not a shock when they die at that age, but I have friends whose cats have lived past that- 14, 16, 17, and one friend's cat, who just died, was 23!
Health has a lot to do with it. Some cats have health problems that lead to premature death, such as cancer, urinary problems (mostly in males), diabetes, etc., even depression. But all in all, it just depends on the cat.

A cat can live at normal when in good heath any where between 18 and 20. They can live longer. Or they can live shorter.

I have a 19 year old cat and she is still in good health. She still plays with strings and glitter balls, she can run a little bit and she can still jump up on the couch and take up all the room (she is rather large). The only thing wrong with her (that I know of) is that she has bad knees in her hind legs. The vet says the knee caps slip in and out of socket, yuk. But I put medicine for that in her food every 3rd day and she seems to be OK with it. Her name is Natalie but I call her old Gramma Kitty. My vet told me he had a cat that lived to 25 years old and just died one day. I will sure miss my Gramma Kitty when she goes. I spoil her to death, ha ha!

My SIL had a cat live to be 23 years old. I *think* the normal life span is 13 to 18 years.

I had a cat that had to be put down at 18...she was soo thin and not healthy anymore.
I had another that had to be put down at 16 because he had aggressive cancer.
It depends on the life style they lead and how healthy they are, but cats often live past 15.
It's good to know when to do the humane thing and put them out of their misery though...don't ya' wish us humans had that option?
