Yes, many good Catholic priests. The thing is is the Media doesn't care about the number of Baptists or Methodists or the other denominations because the Catholic Church is their biggest enemy because we cry foul on the things they do more than any other religion. Bill Donahue from the Catholic league just put out an article not too long ago that talks about the abuse numbers in general and what the percentage of abuse claims are with other denominations, and it is really an eye opener. Baptists have the worst record of them all and all of the other denominations are represented pretty heavily and all of these denominations clergy can be married so what does that tell you?
Jesus had his Judas and nothing much has changed but, because Judas was among his disciples does that mean the whole bunch was bad? I don't think so!!

I remember my mother's Roman Catholic Priest. Such a kind man, wouldn't hurt a fly.
The Priest's I have now, are married Priests because I have converted to the One Holy Apostolic Church which is known as the Eastern Orthodox Church of Antioch.
You may have had a wonderful experience with a Roman Catholic Priest, but it would be silly to think that your experience is exclusive. Pedaphiles will hurt multitudes of children over a lifetime. So a few bad Priest's can do much damage. What is hard to take, is that when the Bishosp were notified that their was a problem, it was ignored, or the Priest was relocated to a Parish who was not told that this Priest had this problem. It was how it was handled that was so very horrid.
I know many catholics who have been very much hurt by nuns and Priests. I am glad you are fine, but keep in mind, their are hurting people all around you.
I know you want to stick up for your beliefs, but when the Roman Catholic Church decided to not allow married Priests, a practice that the church has always allowed from the beginning, even Peter was married remember: they set themselves up for failure. They brought this upon themselves and it really is sad.
Those monastics that are not married and desire to be Priests, in my church, they are in monasteries. Where they should be. How can a Priest help his congregation if he isn't struggling with the same issues we are, with a wife and kids and having to make ends meet?
I have met both married and unmarried Priests, they have all been very good people. I even know of some very kind Roman Catholic Priests, who are wonderful. But, when a church decides to change policy based on trying to save money, the church was tired of supporting the wives and families of Priest's who had died, and then goes against all the years of tradition of having married Priest's in Parishes, they really bring it on themselves. It is sad
Lord have mercy.

I only know one priest that has done some indecent things but he neer molested children (that I know of). I personally know of 8 priests throughout my life and they were all very nice and good teachers. I attended Catholic school for 8 yrs and had a priest that worked close with the principal and a priest for religion and math class. They were great men.
I agree with what you are saying here. In this site, many people hear of a few bad people and immediately label everyone in that category that same. Like all priests are molestors, all Christians are closed-minded, all Muslims are killers, etc. It's terrible! That why there are so many problems in America. No one will openly admit that they are racist or such but online with anynomousity, they will say ignorant things.

Hi, Yes I too can only say good things about the many Priests that it has been my privilege to meet over the years, they give so much for their parishioners and do not get it easy.
Many of our poor Priests are suffering terribly because of a few rotten apples and they are persecuted in all manner of ways, some are ridiculed wherever they go and the vile slander against decent and hardworking Priests is almost demonic.
I pray for all Priests every day and I believe that God will bless them through the persecutions.

I have met many Godly Catholic Priests and any sensible person knows that they are not all paedophiles. Its just a way for the unbeliever to point an ugly finger at the Church and say they are all bad. God judges His own children first, if He judges us how much more the sinner. That is why it is important how we act because the world is waiting for us to fall and disgrace Christ. By the way I am not Catholic.

Yes, I have.
It seems to me that the people who paint all people of faith with this hypocritical brush are the ones who are afraid of being judged. I'm not trying to say that everyone is that way....but it dominates our culture. Those priests are the scapegoat. People want someone to hold up as an example that there is no God and that the church as an entity is corrupt and immoral. Problem...Everyone is human and everyone makes mistakes. I would never down play the things that happened. I acknowledge them and I pray for the victims and their families every night...but we have no choice but turn to god and turn the other cheek. Tired of people judging those men and in turn you...lead by example, convert and teach in your own actions and life.
God Bless and Keep you,
Mary Kathleen

Several! There are so many wonderful priests out there.
as a fellow catholic, I too am appaulled by the prejudice against Christians and Catholics in this Yahoo forum. What happened to respecting each others differences? You don't have to agree, but we can still treat people with respect.

the reason people lump all people together in a negative way is then they have an excuse to keep living like hell
it is sad that so many have done so much good and then receive the reputation of a few evil doers
