Oh yeah. It's GREAT for destroying the resources which we need to live on in the future. The patent system accelerates the destruction of our soil, air and water. The tax system encourages consumption rather than conservation (they WANT you to go in debt rather than save the money which represents the life time you sold).
The competitive spirit keeps people afraid of each other so they can't relax and enjoy time off. The less time off they have, the more money they spend on the vacations they DO take (fly instead of drive, get away instead of staying home, etc).
Fears of smells, fear of losing your job, fears of missing a child's every soccer game, fear of nonconformity, fear of being perceived as a shoplifter (Krogerphobia). The list goes on.

Yes, it's the most successful economic system in the world- it creates the most wealth and propserity which allows for funding of medical research, foreign aid & social programs on a scale that no other nations can come close to matching. But it does take a toll.

Still, disintegrating moral character is a worldwide issue- much of Africa and Russia are desperately poor, but have even more corruption and moral decay in their governments. China is a joke when it comes to human rights. Look at the rampant crime in Columbia and Mexico.

So the problem is simply human nature, not a particular economic system. At least capitalism works- communism has already failed.

OH, high and mighty ignorant one! It is not the economic system, but the liberals and their media (TV, the Movie industry, the Democratic party), these are the ones that are responsible for our disintegrating moral values.
