Try San Francisco State University. I've been there a couple of times and had attended an ethic performance in one of its theaters. I've heard that its active with performances year around. The website is http://www.sfsu.edu/.

If you enjoy performing arts, I'll also recommend the NTDTV holiday shows. Its one-of-a-kind performances feature both western and eastern traditions that you'll not find else where. This year, the show will be touring a dozen cities across the U.S. The website is http://www.shows.ntdtv.com/.

Julliard is definatley one of the world's top school for music, theatre and dance. On the west coast, though? The San Francisco Conservatory of Music is good for Musicians, as well as UCLA, which has great programs for all performers.
