My Canadian passport is expired. Do I need to reapply for a passport? or is there an easier way to renew it?

Any links would be appreciated. Thanks.

Sorry for some of these Canadians being sarcastic.
OK, now any time you let your passport expire, you will have to start from the beginning again.
Get the proper passport forms either at a post office or go directly to the passport office and p/up the forms. Get the guarantor to sign the form and get new passport pictures done. Make sure they are passport pictures and both pics are stamped in the back. One of the pics have to be signed by the guarantor and after you have done all of this, it will cost you around 125.00 CDN dollars and go to the passport office with all of your documents and forms filled out properly.
If you don't go personally to the passport office it will take much more time to get your passport. Also remember when the passport office tells you when it is ready for p/up go in person to p/up your passport cause they need you to sign some more documents.

It really is very time consuming but Canada does not take any chances with mistakes. They will even call your guarantor for verification. Then you have to do this all over again in 5 years.

Good Luck from Toronto

you can't "renew" a canadian passport, you have to just apply for a new one using the application form you can pick up at any post office. If your old passport was issued in the last 5 years (which yours wasn't unless it was special circumstances like an emergency issue to replace a lost one which only lasted a year) you have to include it with your new application but they will send it back to you if you request it.

Yes you need to reapply for a passport - I am canadian and I renewed mine earlier this year. I live in the US and I did it by mail.

You need to start over fresh, new picture, guarantor and information. Do not destroy your old passport there is a spot to record an old passport number and you will need to take that with you to the pass port office or mail it in with your new application. Applications are available at your local post office.
