Water pump is out. Not pumping coolant thru system

Check to make sure your water pump is working by letting the car get warm and then looking into the radiator and see if the water is circulating. If water pump is not working replace it and if is working I would replace the thermostat again just to make sure I didn't get a faulty one. If that doesn't work I don't have a clue.
Hope this helps if not I'm sorry

That particular year of Windstar with the 3.8L V6 is notorious for blowing head gaskets. The "weak spot" is at the corners. Remove #3 and/or #4 spark plugs to check for the presence of engine coolant. If this is the case, you need to have your head gaskets replaced.

Sounds like the impellers on the water pump are worn out.
If at some time the water in the radiator was rusty, the water pump is finished.
