Thanks for lumping us all together in one narrow-minded box.
I am a Christian who does not quote scripture to other Christians or people of other faiths.
I think that SOME Christians who like to quote scripture do it because they have no other means of logic to promote their faith. Perhaps they have little love so they can't promote God's love through their own personal testimony. Perhaps their life is a mess and they can find scripture to justify why they are that way and at the same time preach why you should not be that way. I have known many different types of Christians and I have observed this to be true more often than not.

Revelation has come to mankind, whether you are blind or not you will not know. As a Muslim we do not exclusively believe in the Qu'ran alone we accept the Torah and the Gospel and God's revelation but the current copies of these are not 100% accurate of their original revelation.
017:071] (And remember) the Day when We shall call together all human beings with their (respective) Imâm [their Prophets, or their records of good and bad deeds, or their Holy Books like the Qur'ân, the Taurât (Torah), the Injîl (Gospel), or the leaders whom the people followed in this world]. So whosoever is given his record in his right hand, such will read their records, and they will not be dealt with unjustly in the least.
[017:072] And whoever is blind in this world (i.e., does not see Allâh's Signs and believes not in Him), will be blind in the Hereafter, and more astray from the Path.
I am innocent of the deeds you, while you are innocent of the deeds that I do.
:D Have a good day

I feel that it is a method, in certain religions, to make non-believers feel stupid.
Basic human pride leads us to want to be seen as enlightened. Therefore, we want to know more about what was just quoted to us. This leads some people to pick up the Holy Book in question... read a few passages... and viola... you have just been converted!
Some people might be better off after conversion, and some might have been better of in blissful ignorance! Cheers!
PS: I don't mean to offend those of you that do quote in scripture. Just sharing my opinion.

Part of being a Christian is sharing the gospels. So people may understand that only through Jesus can you have eternal life in heaven. Whether you believe in the Bible or not doesn't matter. It doesn't change the fact that is the Word of God and is the truth.

It is inherent to their very belief system.
Speaking as a Christian, scriptures such as Matthew 28:19,20, Matthew 24:14, and scores of others come to mind. Those scriptures are not in there for the non believer. They are in their for me, and the instructions are quite clear. I must preach what Jesus preach. I must teach what he taught. The Kingdom of God. If anyone listens - great. If not, then my task is still done, and I have still remained obedient.

They are only being consistent with their beliefs.
If a person feels that they can quote a verse that comes from God then that verse should prove at least as effective as anything they make up for themselves.
God's word should still ring true to the unbeliever's ears, simply because it is God's word.

Good question!
I don't think it is wrong to share scripture with them but I do think it is entirely wrong when we try to hold them to a standard that they don't even believe to be true.
Scripture changes lives but until the change takes place why would we ever think that we could force them or require them to live by it.
Excellent question!

When you ask a faith based question and you want to know why we believe what we say or do...we use Scripture to back it up?

well, i quote scripture from their holy books too and i don't share their faith. i'm am as able as they (often more able) to pick and choose verses to suit my agenda. funny thing tho ... i can answer a query using only their god's words and still get a thumbs down. i mean ... if they thumbs down their own scriptures who are they really disagreeing with? hehehehe!
