There is a grand galactic alignment on 12-21-2012 which corresponds to the start of the 13th Baktun of the Mayan Long Count calendar. It's not the apocalypse or the end of the world. It's just an alignment that the Maya thought signified the birth of a new sun, a new world age. Astronomical alignments are fact, not fiction. There's no doubt about the "truth" of that, any more than knowing when an eclipse will be.

The world will not end on December 2012,that is just a rumor
people use to scare people. The current species of humans will
last at least 100,000 more years until 102,006 AD and will be replaced
by a more advanced species of humans, but the world itself will remain
remain intact for at least 5 billion years when the sun burns out.

Yes, and then everyone can stop arguing about religion. People need to stop worrying about the end of the world. You're gonna die anyway, and if you had the exact date, it would give you more motivation to have fun before then. But I'm 90% sure that's not the end. Every decade there are new 'Armageddon dates'.

the world's problems are almost overwhelming—and not just because of the wars and conflicts that grab the headlines. Every day, millions of people all over the world face a host of other disasters: famine, disease, economic chaos, racism, ecological and natural catastrophes, and so forth.
Do these mean Jesus' second coming is very near? It certainly may be, because He indicated that just before He comes again the world 's problems will increase. He declared, "Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places" (Matthew 24:7). While these problems are part of every age, the Bible says they will increase in intensity toward the end.
And yes, you are right: The only final answer to our problems is Jesus Christ, for when He comes again, He will rule the world with perfect justice and peace. In that day, the Bible says, "He will reign ... with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever" (Isaiah 9:7).
The Bible cautions us against trying to set the date for Jesus' second coming. But it also urges us to be ready and watchful "while we wait for the blessed hope—the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ" (Titus 2:13). Are you ready for that day? You can be, by committing your life to Christ today.

it won't be, any more than 2000, 1996, 1992, 1981.... 1666... 1000... or any other "end time" were correct.
After 2012, will you all start salivating for 2030 (or thereabouts), or can you finally crawl out from under the bed?
