Neither is higher. They are different branches of the same military.

There are rivalries in every thing.

It's just trash talk.

Reading is fundamental.

Your sentence structure is some of the worst I've ever seen.

If by this question you are asking whether a Marine is somehow superior to a Soldier, then the answer is no. Marines and Soldiers are performing different aspects of the same missions, and we do work together when the mission requires it.

There is a lot of good (and bad) natured joking on both sides, but the reality is that we're all on the same team regardless of what service we choose to join.

The Army has engaged in numerically larger amphibious operations than the Marine Corps. June 6th, 1944 comes immediately to mind.

The bottom line is that this "rivalry" is a non-issue.

If you are asking about rank then here is scenario. If a soldier, a marine, a airman and a sailor are all stuck on an island and they are all of equal rank. The question comes up as to who is in charge. The answer is the sailor. Marines are a division of the Navy however, a Marine does not like it when you bring this up. Getting back to the scenario...The person most likely to take charge of any situation is the one with the training which will get them all home safely. Army is trained to conduct combat mission for extended periods. Marines are trained as shock troops and not equipped to maintain long periods of combat. In today's world I would have to say that each branch of the military is equal. They may make jokes about each other but they do respect each others mission.

Soldiers (troops in the Army) are land based while Marines are amphibious. From what I understand, the Marines started out as snipers on naval ships.

The Marine Corps is an elite part of the Department of the Navy, which explains their 'I'm a Marine and better than you" mentality. But don't count out the soldiers. We have our elite too: Rangers, paratroopers, and Delta Force. Believe me, they talk sh** too. It's kind of like rival football teams. No malice is intended. It's a form of motivation, especially since Marines and U.S. soldiers are both fighting for the red, white, and blue.

Hey pathfinder, show me that definition. If you call an airman a soldier in my presence, I'll swiftly correct you! Soldiers serve 12 months in Iraq, not 4.

First of all, in response to pathfinder, tell an Airmen, Marine, or Sailor that they're a 'Soldier' and you'll likely be on the ground wondering why you're in pain.

As for whose higher, the Marines think they're the highest, as does the Navy, Army, Coast Guard, and Air Force. In truth, we're all equal, and we all do our own part. And remember, Jarhead is from a marine's perspective.

The US Army IS land-based... the US Marines are a part of the Department of the NAVY. All are part of the Department of Defense. Neither are "higher" in and of themselves... though I'd trust a Marine in a tight spot.

The Marine Corps has always been smaller. They are America's forward service: Embassy duty, at sea (shipboard) and as a reaction force. JUST prior to WWII, they studied, perfected and then USED the art of amphibious warfare.

Marines are soldiers...The origin of the name "Marines" is from a few hundred years ago when England began staffing warships and merchant transports with trained troops that could defend it under attack or be deployed to land garrisons if needed. As far as Marines looking down on the Army, I think most of that is just for morale. I've known plenty of Marines (I'm former Air force) and they pretty much respect everyone who serves. Every branch of the military has it's own version of "esprit-de-corps" and it helps build pride and unity.

i think that marines look down at the army because the marines are the crazy psycho(in a good way,cuz im gonna be one)people that go and take over the place no matter the odds, and the army just occupies the land.the reason marines are sea based is because the marines are a branch of the navy.

Noone "looks down" on eachother. Its like High School Football rivalry; its good natured. Its not like there trying to make fun of eachother or anything because in the end; theyre be fighting side by side.

It's not just the Army, we look down on everybody. On a serious note, it's professional rivalry, we all do the same ugly job out here. We (Marines) do have a longer boot camp, and we have a way smaller budget. And we usually go in first. And we're harder and deadlier and better-looking. But aside from that we're the same. SAME TEAM, FARVA!! IYAOYAS
