how do you make a messy bun?

I have thick hair. I've tried to make a messy bun but it always comes apart. I've tried doing it tighter but then it doesn't look loike a MESSY bun. How do you do it? thanks!

actially its very easy. okay, really its better if you use 2 bands. just grab sections of hair and "scrunch" it up in the middle of your head. do that with all of the hair, then just wrap the bands around it about 2 or 3 times then pull strands out around the face and in the bun. for that extra classy look curl the strands, you will look a m a z i n g ! good luck!

Here's what I do:

When I make a normal "pony-tail", I wrap the elastic band around twice. For a messy bun, I pull my hair back as if for a pony-tail, put the hair through elastic band ONCE, then before it is all the way through the second time, leave some of the ends in the loop. It's difficult to describe but I hope that made some sense.

It's hard to do a messy bun, without it falling down. First put your hair up in a secure pony. Then do your messy bun. Then secure the whole thing with bobby pins. Finally, lightly spay it with some hair spray. Make sure the bobby pins aren't so visible, otherwise you can tell you put a lot of effort in to it, and you want it to look effortless.

First grab a rubberband in one hand and put it around your hair once and then put it around once more half way through. Spread tHe back hair and put hair spray and you'll be a diva!

maybe you could try to do a neat bun then take some hairs loose of the elastic......OR...........do a noogie on the bun,,,lol
