When they picket the funerals of soldiers, and small children, there is a group of Bikers that follow them around, and shield whatever is going on from the attenders of the funeral.

If they came to your city, would you also take a stance to do something to shield people from it, or do you think they have a right to do what they are doing?

Personally, they disgust me, and if it was my child they were picketting, its likley I'd do something illegal to them.

Those idiots came to West Virginia to picket the funerals of the miners who were killed in the Sago mine accident. The bikers also came, and this made everyone feel much better about them being there, because they could not bother anyone. We got comfort from knowing that while yes, there may be a few idiots out there, there are far more people who support the families of the deceased and will take a stand to protect the rights of the family to a peaceful funeral.

People have a right to express certain things. But I honestly don't see how these people have a right to picket at a person's funeral. That is disgusting to me. As far as I know, none of these miners were gay, and even if they had been, I still don't think those people had a right to picket. But to come and complain about homosexuality when you're dealing with miners who were married with children and showed no signs of even being gay, is just pointless, and maybe even slander.

It might be legal to go to a funeral of a soldier and say "Thank God for dead Soldiers" (I've seen that on one of their signs) but it should not be. I think this really crosses the line.

What they are doing is not right. There is some things that should be sacred and holy, and that my dear is funerals of the dead. I don't care who that person is who died, everyone deserves a quiet holy service. They should be locked up for disturbing the peace.

I would take a stance and do something about it, if they were in my town.

They were even going to picket the funerals of slain Amish girls in their sick hope of attracting attention to their cause. They didn't because a radio personality gave them an hour time on their show, making a deal with them, an hour exposure on national radio so you would not hurt those Amish families, who have been hurt enough.

We need wisdom in dealing with these people.

I think the First Amendment applies to Phelps, but I oppose him and would be willing to help shield people from his idiocy. Vehemently disagreeing with someone while acknowledging his right to say it is not a contradiction. The only way Phelps and his cast of idiots can legally be kept from demonstrating at funerals would be noise ordinances or tresspassing laws.

They have come to where I live twice (two different places, I was). I think they have a Constitutional right to demonstrate, but I admire what the bikers are doing. I think it is important for people not to react when Phelp's group comes to town, especially by throwing things. Most of the members of that family have law degrees and they make money by suing cities who do not provide enough police protection for them. They are quite malicious.

i do not support what they are doing.

they may have the right to do it under US law. but do that at my child's funeral, and bad things will happen to you.

i am suprised that someone has not attcked one of them already.

if i thought that a funeral of a family member may draw them, i would simply instruct everyone attendint the funeral to bring a baseball bat. i do not think that there is a jury in the country that would convict a mob of funeral attendents for beating the hell out of some bigoted ******* that were protesting it.

I would personally like to join their protest and look like a supporter by carrying a shrimp proclaiming how Leviticus talks about the ritual filth known as "shellfish."

I hate WBC with a fiery passion.

I think "water" balloons full of urine is appropriate, myself. Not that I'd stoop to their level.
