They spew out all of the lines they've been fed over the years. The best way to confront them is to read the bible & challenge them with their own words. Most of them have not read it....just certain passages.

Let me answer a question with a question. How is it you think you can "corner" a God believer? That implies that you are aggressively attacking them. Those that believe in God aren't required to prove it to you. A fair discussion leaves the other the option to believe as he/she wishes without mocking or browbeating. How unkind.
They may very well have answers, and not want to answer your mocking motivation. Or they don't have the bible right there and can't think of the verse. SOME unbelievers think that christians go around with a christian apologetics book under your arm and the ability to pluck verses or facts, names or dates from mid air. Of course I'm sure you personally wouldn't hold yourself to that kind of criteria to prove God doesn't exhist now would you.

A strange questions since it would imply that one person would do as all would. I have never met a true atheist, most seem content to simply be nihilistic. It is funny how a person would have pride in ignorance, since atheist say they disbelieve in god. A true atheist would not care enough about the subject to say anything. Most who claim to be atheist simply want to argue a point that doesn't matter. The real question should be, if a person does not believe in god does god still believe in them?

Hi murphys_lawyers. I don't know. Not all believers are teachers. And God tells us there should be few teachers. In James 3:1 God instructs:
"My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment."
Believers should just explain what they know and believe. But as far as making things up as we go along, we don't have to. Christ gave his disciples (believers) instructions of what to say as we debate non-believers. In Matthew 10:19-20 God tells us what to do:
"But when they deliver you up, do not worry about how or what you should speak. For it will be given to you in that hour what you should speak; 20 for it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you."
What is God speaking about here? Jesus is telling us here when we debate or are persecuted for our faith we are not to worry about what to say because God will give us the words to say. And how will we find the words? In God's Word, the Holy Bible.
In Acts 7 God gives an example with the testimony of Stephen. When he was called to give an account of his faith, he recounted the biblical history on the nation of Israel. Everything Stephen said was from Scriptures. God is showing his children if they are judged for their faith, that we are to speak what He has written in the Scriptures.

Interesting...but I'm not sure you ever really can corner a god believer, because they don't really believe in needing evidence to support their ideas...you know like that one about there being a god? So whenever they want they can just blame things on like oh it's the magic of the lord or whatever...wimps.

Depends on your definition of "make up". For instance, the theory of evolution was made up, so that there would be no need for God when everything was created.
